Email :5

For a Teen mom life already feels difficult at times. But this difficulty grows a lot when you are unable to share your thoughts or get support from your parents. If you go down the road of proving yourself to your parents or going harsh on them because of your rebellious phase you will probably struggle more. You are not alone in this struggle as most teens are going through the same. Here are a few ways to start.

Accept it’s Hard to Say “I’m Struggling”

Telling your parents I am struggling might feel like admitting they were right when they were worrying. Ask yourself if most of your struggle is just to try and prove them wrong. This added pressure is what makes you reluctant from asking for help. Listen Teen Mom, just relax and zoom out a bit. Realize what is best for you and your child at the moment.

How to Start the Conversation

Try to pick a calm moment to begin the conversation and not or a bad day or in the middle of an argument. Timing matters a lot.

Try not to blame anybody and mention what you feel, because your parents care about your feelings more than you think. “I’m exhausted and scared I’m messing this up” opens a conversation. “You never help me” usually shuts it down.

Hey, can you watch the baby for few nights a week is easier to be replied with yes than a vague hey, I need help.

One conversation would not fix all your problems so don’t expect it to. Still it is a really good start, so go ahead.
